The short version

  • We never see or store your full card number or security code. Payments are handled by Stripe, a payment company used by millions of businesses.
  • We collect what we need to run breaks and ship your cards: your account details, shipping address and orders.
  • We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use ad trackers or analytics tools on this site.
  • Your break history is private unless you choose to show it.
  • You can ask us to show you, fix or delete your information at any time.

What we collect

When you make an account: username, email, password (stored scrambled by our login provider; we can’t see it), full name, shipping address, and phone number if you give one (it’s optional and only used for the carrier).

Your profile, if you add it: profile picture, name color and flair, what you’re chasing, and a short bio.

When you buy: the spots you bought, the break, prices, shipping or pickup choice, and order status. Your Chase Points balance and history. For a saved card we keep only the card brand, last 4 digits and expiration month/year so we can show you which card is on file.

When you take part: live chat messages, private messages you send or receive, bids in auctions, reports you make, and moderation actions (like a timeout) on your account.

When you contact us: what you write and the email you give.

Automatically: like any website, the companies that host the site and stream the video receive basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you load, so the site works and stays secure.

Payments and your card

All payments are processed by Stripe. When you enter a card, it goes straight from your browser to Stripe. Your full card number and security code never touch our servers, and we can’t see them. Stripe is certified to the highest level of the payment card security standard (PCI DSS Level 1).

If you save a card for swipe-to-buy, Stripe keeps it and gives us a reference to it, plus the brand, last 4 digits and expiration date. When you swipe to buy, or win an auction, we ask Stripe to charge that saved card for that purchase only. You can remove your saved card anytime on your account page.

Stripe’s use of your information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy. If you choose to use Stripe Link at checkout, Link saves your details with Stripe under Stripe’s own terms.

How we use it

  • To run your account, process purchases and auctions, and ship or hand off your cards.
  • To send emails you need: sign-in links, a receipt for every purchase, an alert whenever a card is saved to your account, shipping updates, and (if you leave it on) an alert when a break you have spots in starts.
  • To run the live chat, private messages, member numbers and profiles.
  • To keep the community safe: filter abusive messages, handle reports, and stop fraud or chargeback abuse.
  • To answer you when you contact us, and to keep records the law requires (like sales records for taxes).

We don’t send marketing emails right now. If we ever do, every one will have an unsubscribe link, and receipts and account emails will still come through.

What other members can see

Some things are public by design, because breaks happen in front of everyone:

  • Your username, profile picture, name color, flair, bio, what you’re chasing, member number and join month, on your profile page and when you chat.
  • Your chat messages in the live room.
  • Your username next to spots you bought on that break’s spot list, and as the winner of an auction you win, the same way it’s shown on stream.
  • Your spot and break totals, unless you turn that off.
  • Your break history (which breaks and spots) only if you turn it on. It’s off by default.

Never shown to other members: your real name, email, address, phone, prices you paid, or anything about your card. Control your profile under Your profile page on your account.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We only share what each of these companies needs to do its job for us:

StripePayments and saved cards
SupabaseOur database and logins (accounts, orders, chat, messages)
VercelHosts the website
CloudflareStreams the live video
BrevoSends our emails
Shippo and the carrierShipping labels and delivery (USPS, UPS and others get your name, address and phone if given)

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, to investigate fraud, or if the business is ever sold or merged (the new owner would have to honor this policy).

Cookies and tracking

We only use what the site needs to work: a login token so you stay signed in, and a few settings saved in your browser (like chat size). No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no analytics.

Because we don’t track you across sites, there’s nothing for a browser “Do Not Track” signal to turn off, and the site works the same either way.

Chat and private messages

Live chat is public. Private messages are only visible to you and the person you’re talking to. They’re stored with our database provider, and we don’t read them, except when one is reported to us, when we need to keep someone safe, or when the law requires it. Messages are filtered for slurs and links the same way chat is.

How long we keep it

  • Your account information: while your account is open.
  • Orders, payments and shipping records: as long as tax and accounting rules require (usually up to 7 years), even if you close your account.
  • Chat and private messages: while your account is open, unless removed earlier by you or a moderator.
  • Moderation records (like bans): as long as needed to keep the community safe.

Your choices and rights

  • Change your details (address, profile, card, privacy switches, break alerts, who can message you) on your account page.
  • Get a copy, fix, or delete your information: email contact@breakerssociety.com from your account’s email address. We’ll confirm it’s you and answer within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, chat identity and messages; we keep order records only as long as the law requires.
  • Some states (such as California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado and others) give residents specific privacy rights. Whether or not those laws apply to a business our size, we offer the same access, correction and deletion to everyone. We don’t sell or share data for targeted ads, so there’s nothing to opt out of.
  • We will never treat you differently for asking.

Security

The whole site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Card details are handled by Stripe, not us. Access to customer information is limited to the Breakers Society team, our database locks each member’s private data to their own account, and we keep it to what we need. No system is perfect, so if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

Age

You must be 18 or older to make an account or buy. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, or let anyone under 18 buy. If you think a minor has an account, tell us and we’ll close it.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll let members know by email or on the site before they take effect.

Questions or requests: contact@breakerssociety.com.
